After getting his Chemistry degree at the University of Salamanca (2014), Pablo completed his formation in Madrid, getting a Master´s degree in Drug Discovery (2014-2015) and steering his career towards NMR. He got an FPU grant and enrolled at the group of Chemical Glycobiology in CIC bioGUNE as PhD student from 2016 to 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Jesús Jiménez-Barbero and co-supervised by Prof. Javier Cañada (CIB CSIC, Madrid) and Prof. Niels-Christian Reichardt (CIC bioMAGUNE, Donostia). Over this period, he got specialized in diverse NMR techniques to prove, analyze and characterize biologically relevant carbohydrate-protein interactions in solution. In 2018, he temporarily moved to Southampton (UK) to work in the chemical synthesis of fluorinated sugar probes as part of the PhD project. Pablo got his PhD in Organic Chemistry in April 2020, and then moved to Madrid for a postdoctoral position at the CIB CSIC Margarita Salas (Madrid), still focusing his work on carbohydrate-lectin interactions. In 2021, he was awarded a Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship and moved to San Diego to take part in a collaborative project between The Scripps Research Institute (San Diego, CA, USA) and CIC bioGUNE (Derio, Bizkaia, Spain), under the supervision of Prof. James C. Paulson. Recently, in December 2024, he moved to the group of Prof. Jesús Angulo (IIQ CSIC, Sevilla, Spain), and directed his work towards the integration of IAs in the drug discovery process, making use of NMR data.
